garyIt is 8:30 and I am sitting in a chair in the cabin in the mountains looking at the magnificent view that God has provided  for me. Yesterday I was fishing in a beautiful mountain stream actually catching fish. I also visited with some people here that are organizing a VBS for a small community that will minister to some 300 children and adults. I see these things and I begin to ask myself just what am I doing to further God’s kingdom.

I brought a book with me to read while here entitled “Radical” by David Platt. The book has made me stop and think about all of the people that don’t know God and just what I am doing to see that change. I think we do a good job teaching the people and kids that come in our doors but how are we reaching those that don’t have Jesus in their life. If you look no further than our city you are talking somewhere in the neighborhood of around 150,000 people. Now multiply that times the population of the world and you can see the enormous task we have before us.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This tells us that we are supposed to go out and witness to people. It does not mean that we are to wait for people to come to the church and then teach them. Sometimes we are concerned more about the negative influence some might have on us rather than the positive influence we might have on someone that really needs to know Christ. Please consider what you can do to take God’s word to others.
